ESTHERVILLE – Funeral services for Gary Killmer, 58, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Cliff Vanderburgh officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery in Estherville.
He died Thursday, July 31, 2008, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.
Gary George Killmer, the son of George Washington and Cecelia Grace (Asmussen) Killmer, was born Aug. 15, 1949, in Hartley.
He received his education in the Moneta and Everly Community Schools. Gary worked as a hired man for his uncle on a farm between Everly and Royal. Gary then graduated from Iowa Lakes Community College in Auto Body Repair in Estherville.
On Nov. 24, 1979, he was united in marriage to LaVonne Carrison at the United Methodist Church in Estherville. Gary was employed for Christensen-Larson Construction. Gary was a huge Hawkeye fan. He also enjoyed gardening, birds, feeding the squirrels, the Green Bay Packers, the New York Yankees and was a NASCAR fan.
He was a member of the Church of The Nazarene in Estherville.
Left to cherish Gary’s memory are his wife, Lavonne, of Estherville; two children, Toinette Carrison of Estherville and Terry Carrison and his wife, Heather, of Powell, Wyo.; seven grandchildren; brother, David Killmer of Everly; sister, Rosemary Killmer-Thornley of Adel; aunt, Florence Asmussen of Royal; and also by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Emilie Grace; and granddaughter, Shaylan.
