ESTHERVILLE – Memorial services for Tom Hamilton of Eau Claire, Wis., formerly Estherville, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at United Methodist Church in Estherville with Pastor Lynn A. Potter officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville.
Hamilton’s body was found Sept. 7, 2008, in a wooded area near his resident in Eau Claire. He had been missing since October 2006.
He was born Sept. 11, 1953, the son of Thomas and Dorothy Hamilton of Estherville.
He graduated from Estherville High School in 1972. He lived in Vernal, Utah, for a brief period and then moved back to the area, working construction for several local contractors until 1992, when he moved to Eau Claire. It was there he fell in love with the natural wooded area of Eau Claire. Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman his whole life. He also chose reading and being in the outdoors over TV.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Hamilton; his sister, Lori Eike; brother-in-law, Terry Eike and nephews Joshua and Tyler Eike. He is also survived by several cousins and one aunt.
