Nancy Lee (Martin) Karlstad
WHITEFISH, Mont. – A celebration of life for Nancy Lee (Martin) Karlstad was held Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at the Bohemian Grange Hall in Whitefish, Mont.
Nancy Lee (Martin) Karlstad was born in Estherville Sept. 9, 1945. She was raised in rural Estherville and attended school in Gruver. Upon completion of high school she attended Methodist Kahler School of Nursing, receiving her RN degree. Nancy started her nursing career in Rochester, Minn., where she met her husband, Gary Karlstad. They were married in Rochester May 4, 1968.
Nancy worked as a nurse and later as director of nursing until 1996 when she took early retirement due to health issues.
After retirement, Nancy enjoyed her passion for gardening and feeding her birds and squirrels. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow, and taking care of her loving family. Nancy passed away from ongoing health problems on Oct. 23, 2008. She is at peace in her great garden in the sky, where not a weed is safe.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mary Martin, and her brother, James Martin, all from Estherville.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Gary; son, Brant, and his wife, Jeanne, and their children, Hunter, Brooke and Payton of Whitefish, Mont.; her son, Chris, or Portland, N.D.; and daughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Justin, and their children, Tanner and Kinzlee, of Whitefish. She is also survived by her sister, Pam Houge, of Graettinger and her brother, Craig Martin, of Sutherland.
