Patty D. Papenfuhs
ESTHERVILLE – Funeral services for Patty D. Papenfuhs, 59, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 6, at the United Methodist Church with Pastor Lynn A. Potter, officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. She died Friday, Oct. 31 at Avera Holy Family in Estherville.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel, Estherville.
Patty Diann (Mace) Papenfuhs, the daughter of Anglo and Agnes (Stanz) Mace, was born Sept. 16, 1949, in Estherville.
Patty received her education in the Estherville schools graduating from Estherville High School in 1967. She attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville and graduated in 1970. She also attended Larson School of Cosmetology in Spencer, graduating in 1971. In 1987, Patty graduated from Jackson Vocational Technical Institute in Jackson, Minn.
On Sept. 23, 1972, Patty was united in marriage to Robert F. Fox Jr. Patty lived her entire life in Estherville. Along with being a home maker and raising her family, she was employed as a beautician and also as a secretary and bookkeeper. Patty was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Craig Papenfuhs Sr. on Dec. 16, 1989, at the United Methodist Church in Estherville. She loved flowers, animals, angels, butterflies, crocheting, knitting and doing arts and crafts. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed visiting and joking with people. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and she dearly loved her grandchildren.
She loved Jesus and was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville. Patty was a certified lay speaker, Sunday school teacher in church and she and Craig were very active in the youth group at the church, being the UMYF Leader for 3 years. Patty also served on the church youth council and the church education board. Patty was a member of Estherville VFW Post 3388 Auxiliary since 1969.
Left to cherish Patty’s memory are her husband, Craig Sr. of Estherville; children, Christine Kuhlman and her husband, Kevin of Arnolds Park; Jason Fox and his wife, Kandi of Spencer; Craig Papenfuhs Jr. of Kirksville, Mo.; Thomas Papenfuhs in college at Flint, Mich.; grandchildren, Ashley Fox, Austin Fox, Matthew Izaac Fox, Morgan Renae Fox, Noah Nelson, Eric Nelson, Elizabeth Fox, Robert D. Fox, Sara Simon. Ruby and Daisy, sister, Delores Walstead of Swea City; sister-in-law, Barbara Mace of Estherville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding Patty in death were her parents; brother, Charles; and brother-in-law, William Walstead.
