Yes, it’s playoff time all ready for the summer sports teams. If you’ve been away for a while, softball and baseball teams start their season a little sooner and end sooner.

As the Estherville Lincoln Central baseball team discovered last year, a team that suddenly gets hot can go a long ways.

If you have not seen your team play all year, time is running short to lend your support.

The Armstrong-Ringsted and Graettinger/Terril softball teams both won their first-round games on Wednesday. The Mustangs are in Swea City today with the Knights traveling to Spencer for second-round games.

The Estherville Lincoln Central softball and Spirit Lake baseball teams both begin their playoff runs on Saturday. The Midgettes play Spencer in Spencer at 7 p.m. with Spirit Lake playing Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn at 5 p.m. in Milford.

Class 1A baseball starts Tuesday with Armstrong-Ringsted and Graettinger/Terril playing each other for the fourth time this season at Bancroft’s historic ballpark on Tuesday. Game time is 5 p.m.

The ELC baseball team has a few more games left before starting the postseason on Friday, July 17 with a home game against Spencer at 7 p.m. The winner plays either Algona or Storm Lake on Monday, July 20 at 7 p.m. in Estherville.

So now that you know when and where your team is playing, go support your son, daughter, grandchild or neighbor’s teen.
