ESTHERVILLE – Funeral services for Carol Saha, 86, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, at Estherville Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Peter Soli officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be at Palestine Lutheran Cemetery in Dolliver.
She died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at Rosewood Manor.
Carol Ihlene Herum was born Dec. 2, 1922, to Percy and Leona (Iverson) Herum on a farm near Dolliver.
She attended Dolliver school graduating May 17, 1940, as class valedictorian.
On May 14, 1942, Carol married Arnold Saha at the Lutheran parsonage. After a brief stay in Minneapolis, they returned to farm near Dolliver, Estherville and Superior before retiring and relocating to Woodland Park, Colo. Following Arnold’s death in 1981, Carol returned to Estherville.
She was active in the Estherville Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. She was also active in the garden club continuing to attend meetings even after moving to Rosewood Manor. She was a Twins fan and listened to the games while working on her various needlework projects.
She is survived by Barbara (Dennis) Nissen of Sioux Falls, S.D.; DJ (Matt) Anderson of Palmetto, Fla.; Janet Saha of Martinsburg, Pa.; James (Kathleen) Saha of East Liberty, Ohio; three grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Also surviving are sisters, Norma Rosburg of Estherville, Vivian Montgomery of Dolliver, Annette (Gene) Yackle of Ceylon, Minn., Willma Herrick of Grand Junction, Iowa and Lois (Michael) Swanson of Fairmont, Minn.; brothers, Floyd (Melva) Herum of Fort Dodge and Kenneth (Coleen) Herum of Dolliver and numerous nieces and nephews.
