Phyllis Loraine McKibban
ESTHERVILLE – Graveside services for Phyllis L. McKibban, 89, of Randle, Wash., and formerly Ringsted and Estherville will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville. She will be buried next to her parents, George and Martha Robinson; grandparents, Hans and Meta Gaarde and aunts, Bertha Hinsch, Amelia Manthe and Emma Gaarde.
She died Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Tiffin House in Centralia,Wash., where she had lived for the last six months.
Phyllis Loraine McKibban was born June 15, 1919, in Ringsted to George and Martha Robinson. The family moved to Estherville a short time later where George and Charles Robinson opened Estherville Drug and Robinson Jewelry in the current location of Estherville Drug. Robinson Jewelry later moved to the Gaarde building. Phyllis was a graduate of Estherville High School and Simpson College. She was employed with the Department of Social Welfare in Des Moines until she married Robert McKibban of Lorimor in 1945. She celebrated her 90th birthday with the Lord and her family in heaven.
Phyllis moved to Randle in 1984 and her family was grateful to have shared the last 25 years with her. She was a big part of her family’s lives. She touched many lives in our community. She resided at Heritage House in Morton from March 2007 to October 2008 when she moved to Tiffin House LTC in Centralia.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, George and Martha Robinson, of Estherville, and her sister, Marie Ellison, of St. Paul, Minn. She is survived by her daughter, Robin Bender, of Randle; grandson, Scott Bender, of Surfer’s Paradise, Australia; granddaughter, Lisa McGrew, and great-grandson, Jameson, of Madison, Wis.
