ESTHERVILLE – Funeral services for Dorothy Rhen, 88, of Estherville will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Travis Rosinger officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 1:30 p.m. on Friday only at the funeral home. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery in Estherville.
She died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, in her sleep at her home from complications of a stroke.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Rhen; her parents, John and Sylvia Baker and three brothers and three sisters. Surviving are her three children, Sylvia Edmark, Rosie Cooper (both living in Washington State where she died) and Floyd Satterlee, living in California. The two stepchildren, Rocky Rhen and family in Omaha, Neb., and Barbara Johnson, living in Arizona, are fondly remembered. She has 26 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Dorothy had lived in Iowa all her life until the last two years when she resided in Kennewick, Wash.
She has several nieces and nephews in Estherville that have loved her and she has loved. Maude and Carroll Baker have been like children to her and have cared for her and been there for her all the time. Charles Hassel and Jim Hassel live in other states, but have been close to her also.
Dorothy was a homemaker and loved traveling with Toni to visit family and sightsee.
