ESTHERVILLE – Funeral services for Pauline Whitacre, 95, of Estherville will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2010, at United Methodist Church in Estherville with Pastor Lynn A. Potter officiating. Visitation will be 507 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery in Estherville.

She died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Good Samaritan Society in Estherville.

Pauline Mae (Jensen) Whitacre, the daughter of C. G. and Elizabeth C. (Schultz) Jensen, was born April 13, 1915, in Buffalo Center.

She received her education in the Estherville schools.

On Dec. 11, 1948, Pauline was united in marriage to John Whitacre in Jackson, Minn. After their marriage the couple made their home in Estherville where John and Pauline owned Big John’s Bargain Center. In her leisure time Pauline enjoyed crocheting, traveling, camping and writing poetry. John died May 25, 2000.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville where she served as a Sunday school teacher for 15 years. She was a past Girl Scout leader and was neighborhood chairperson. Pauline was also a member of VFW Post 3388 Auxiliary.

Left to cherish Pauline’s memory are her children, Rhonda Marr and her husband, Craig, of Estherville and Mark Whitacre of Riverside, Calif.; grandchildren, Ryan Lahr and his fiance, Katrina Hansen, Brandon Whitacre, Alysa Heinrichs and her husband, Robert, Teri Laidig and Mimi Whitacre; great-grandchildren, Travis and Zach Laidig, Dallas, Kylee, Wyatt and Wesley Heinrichs and Izaac Whitacre; sisters-in-law, Leona Fisher and Trella DeVos and brother-in-law, Melvin Whitacre.

Preceding Pauline in death were her husband; sister, Elizabeth Heggen; brother, Ralph Jensen and sisters and brothers-in-law.
