Leon ‘Lee’ Charles Homan
WALKER, Minn. – Leon “Lee” Charles Homan, 78, of Walker, Minn. formerly of Estherville, departed this earth June 2, 2010 at the Merit Care Hospital in Fargo, N.D. from Leukemia. Lee was born on Nov. 29, 1931 in Ackley to Charles and Lorna (Reinke) Homan. Lee joined the Army in September 1949 and served in Germany before separating in December 1952. During that time in the service he received a Purple Heart. On Sept. 10, 1955, he married Ailene Raska in Ackley and together they lived in Estherville where Lee was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Patrick’s Parish. Lee retired from John Morrell after 26 years and then worked for Holiday Express for 10 years. He spent the last 15 years on his favorite lake where he enjoyed fishing with his family. He and Ailene are members of St. Agnes Parish of Walker.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Ailene of Walker, daughter; Mary (Jeff) Fain of Hutchinson, Minn., sons; Mike (Kathy) Homan of Medina, N.D., Steve Homan of Estherville, IA and James (Javonna) Homan of Virden, Ill., grandchildren; Justin Fain, Joseph, Katelyn, Carly, Seth, Alea and Gage Homan, siblings Laverl Zimmerman of Columbia, Mo., Dennis Homan of Oelwien and his favorite cat Midnite. Lee was such a gentleman who was deeply loved by all. On behalf of the family, we wish to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for your kindness evidenced in thought, prayers and deeds, and for your attendance at the funeral service.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 on Monday, June 7, 2010 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Walker, with visitation 1 hour prior to service. Father Francis Kabiru is officiating.
