Eldon D. Cummins

ESTHERVILLE – Funeral services for Eldon D. Cummins, 76, of Ringsted will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2010, at Calvary Gospel Assembly in Estheville with Pastor Travis Rosinger officiating. Interment will be at Ringsted Memorial Cemetery with military graveside rites by Christensen-Bonnicksen American Legion Post 382. He died Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at his home in Ringsted.

Eldon D. Cummins, the son of Rufus and Cornelia (Palmer) Cummins, was born Oct. 19, 1933, in Dolliver.

On August 22, 1953, Eldon was united in marriage to Bonnie (Dunford) in Dubuque. Eldon then served in the United States Army from 1953-1957 and continued with the Army Reserve until 1963. In 1954, Eldon started working for Emmet County Road Department. In 1967 the couple moved to Ringsted and Eldon was employed as a road grader for Emmet County until he retired in 1993. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family.

He was a member of Calvary Gospel Assembly in Estherville.

Left to cherish Eldon’s memory is his wife, Bonnie, of Ringsted; children, James Cummins of Shellsburg, Deborah Schnurpel and her husband, Jimmie, of St. Paul, Minn. and Duane Cummins and his wife, Lorraine, of Runnells; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lorene Clark and Vernice Miller and four brothers, Byrl, Dwayne, Virgil and Darrell.
