Dorothy M. Peterson
ARMSTRONG – Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy M. Peterson, 96, of Armstrong will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2011, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong with Father Brian Hughes as Celebrant. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Armstrong with Rosary Service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Armstrong.
She died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armsrong.
Dorothy Marie (Boland) Peterson, the daughter of Fred and Minnie (Korrect) Boland, was born July 16, 1914, in Armstrong.
She received her education in the Armstrong schools, graduating from Armstrong High School.
On Nov. 6, 1936, Dorothy was united in marriage to Marvin Peterson in Armstrong. Following their marriage the couple made their home in the Armstrong area where Dorothy raised their family. Marvin died in 2003. She enjoyed sewing and did alterations for numerous people.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she was active in the ladies’ circle groups and the church choir. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Armstrong.
Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her two daughters, Patricia Shryock and her husband, Dennis, of Estherville and Marlene Bauer of Sioux Falls, S.D; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and siblings, Calista Stefanski of Stillwater, Minn. and Theresa Steinberger and her husband, Cliff, of Armstrong.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her husband; one son, Thomas; one grandson, James Johnson; brother, Arthur Boland and her parents.
