Marjorie M Larsen, 92, of Holstein, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the St Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Holstein with the Rev Curtis E Benson officiating. Burial will be at the Holstein Cemetery of Holstein. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011 from 5 8 p.m. at the Nicklas D Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein. The Nicklas D Jensen Funeral Home of Holstein is in charge of the arrangements.
Marjorie Larsen of Holstein, passed away on March 1, 2011, in Ida Grove of natural causes. She celebrated her 92nd birthday on Sunday, Feb. 27. Marjorie was born in Armstrong, middle daughter of Jonas and Emma Braland. She loved to take rides in the Iowa countryside, visit her sisters, spend time at her cottage on Lake Okoboji, fish with her husband, Darrel and brother-in-law, John Barnard and most of all read. She read two newspapers daily and once told a doctor in Des Moines, who asked her how she managed to live so long, that she continued to be interested in the world around her. Marjorie loved to cook, entertain, play bridge and golf in her earlier years. She was a long time member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Being a very independent woman, she continued to live in her home until close to the end.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrel, and her sister, Lorna.
A loving mother, sister, aunt and friend, she is survived by her son, Roger Larsen, of Illinois, and her daughter, Kristine Larsen, of Minnesota; her younger sister, Berniece Barnard, of Florida; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
