Bonnie F. Tonne
Memorial services for Bonnie F. Tonne, 67, of Fairmont, Minn, will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial will be following the service in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery in 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Bonnie passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011, at her home in Fairmont. The Lakeview Funeral Home of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bonnie Fae (Rettke) Tonne was born Nov. 29, 1943, in Fairmont, Minn., the daughter of Ed and Melinda (Rasche) Rettke. She was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont and attended school in Fairmont.
On July 2, 1966, Bonnie was united in marriage to Burne W. Tonne in Fairmont. Together the couple made their home in Fairmont where they were blessed with three children, David, Lisa, and Tara.
Bonnie worked at Smith’s Greenhouse, Food-n-Fuel and tended bar for many years. She also worked for Stokley Van Camp until its closing and helped her husband operate “The Pub” in Fairmont.
In her spare time, Bonnie enjoyed putting together puzzles and working on crossword puzzles. She loved tending to her flowers and after Burne passed away in 2005, she found friendship from her dog, Gypsy. Bonnie also cherished the opportunity to spend time with her family especially babysitting for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bonnie was a member of the Northrop American Legion Auxiliary.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, David Tonne of Fairmont, Lisa Wegner and her husband, Greg of Fairmont, and Tara Torres and her husband, Toby of Fairmont; grandchildren, Lindsey, Chantelle, Brittley, Kiley, and Sebastian; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jacelynn, Laticianna, and Jaxson; one brother, Ed “Bud” Rettke and his wife, Betty of Fairmont; one brother-in-law, Floyd Tonne of Fairmont; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Gruver of Colorado, and Fern Holtz of Dodge Center, Minn.; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Melinda Rettke; husband, Burne Tonne; grandson, Jeffrey Wegner; sister, Charlotte Harris; brother, Harold Rettke; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
