Bernice ‘Bea’ Lenox

Bernice “Bea” Lenox, age 89 of Gaylord, Minn., passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord. Memorial Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at American Lutheran Church in Gaylord. Arrangements by Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord.

Graveside Services will be 11 a.m.. Saturday, April 2, 2011, in the East Side Cemetery in Estherville, Iowa. Memorials preferred to American Lutheran Church in Gaylord.

Bernice “Bea” Lavon (Hanson) Lenox was born on Oct. 13, 1921, in Graettinger. She was the daughter of Clarence and Clara (Barton) Hanson. Bea was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as of youth in June of 1935, at the Estherville Lutheran Church in Estherville. She received her education in Estherville and was a 1939 graduate of the Estherville High School.

On May 17, 1942, Bea was united in marriage to Calvin Lenox in South Sioux City, Neb. After their marriage the couple resided in Austin, Minn., and in 1947, the couple moved to Gaylord. Bea and Calvin shared 46 years of marriage until Calvin passed away on Dec. 23, 1988.

Bea worked in the office at Hormel Company in Austin, Minnesota, until Calvin was transferred to Gaylord in 1947. After the move to Gaylord, she held employment as a medical secretary at the Gaylord Clinic for many years. She retired in June of 1988.

Bea was a member of American Lutheran Church in Gaylord.

Bea enjoyed bowling, bowling tournaments and dancing.

When she needed assistance with her daily care, Bea became a resident of Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord on Nov. 1, 2010, and passed away there on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at the age of 89 years. Blessed be her memory.

Bea is survived by her: sister, Dorothy Spoo of Woodville, Wis; sisters-In-Law, Ardelle Coleman of Estherville, and LaVon Yarns of Jackson, Minn.; niece, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bea was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Clara Hanson; husband, Calvin Lenox; sisters, Wanda Marr, Jean Dye, and Pauline Krie.
