ESTHERVILLE – Mass of Christian Burial for Cecilia Kollasch, 88, of Estherville will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2011, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Interment will be at St. Margaret’s Catholic Cemetery in Spirit Lake.
She died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong.
Cecilia Margaret (Heller) Kollasch, the daughter of Harry and Clara (Berning) Heller, was born July 14, 1922, in Emmetsburg.
She attended St. Ellen’s School in Emmetsburg.
On Jan. 7, 1947, Cecilia was united in marriage to Bernard Kollasch at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. The couple farmed and raised their family their entire lives in the Emmetsburg, Estherville, Melvin, Terril, Ayrshire, Graettinger and Superior areas. Cecilia loved gardening, canning and freezing it. She made patch quilts or crocheted for all of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed sitting and watching television, knitting and crocheting. Bernard passed away Dec. 8, 1976 and Cecilia moved into Graettinger and lived there until entering a nursing home in 2001.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville.
Left to cherish Cecilia’s memory are her children, Theresa Dominy and her husband, David, of Estherville, Mary Gamez and her husband, Chuck, of Arcadia, Wis., Bill Kollasch and his wife, Babette, of Spencer, Richard Kollasch and his wife, Karen, of Colfax, Robert Kollasch and his wife, Barb, of Terril, Rose Gage and her husband, Roy, of Estherville, David Kollasch and his wife, Robin, of Spirit Lake, Paul Kollasch and his wife, Diane, of Spirit Lake, Karen Kollasch of Colfax and Kurt Kollasch and his wife, Susan, of Oskaloosa; son-in-law, Paul Joyce, of Graettinger; 30 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; siblings, Jim Heller and his wife, Lois, of Spencer, Vincent Heller and his wife, Joy, of Graettinger, Raymond Heller and his wife, Clarice, of Milford, Betty Foxhoven of Spencer and Leonard Heller and his wife, Arlene, of Terril; sister-in-law, Joyce Heller, of Minnesota and brother-in-law, Leo Moran, of Emmetsburg.
Preceding Cecilia in death were her husband; daughter, Martha Joyce; brothers, Bernard and William and sisters, Mary Ann, Isabelle and Sister Mary Elizabeth.
