ESTHERVILLE – Mass of Christian Burial for Frances M. Nicol, 81, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville with Father Brian Hughes as Celebrant. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Estherville.

She died Monday, April 4, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville.

Frances M. (Bradley) Nicol, the daughter of Kenneth and Carrie (Grewell) Bradley, was born Dec. 14, 1929, in Emmetsburg.

She received her education in Emmetsburg schools, graduating from Emmetsburg High School.

On May 18, 1948, she was united in marriage to Clifford Nicol in Emmetsburg. Frances and Cliff lived in California while Cliff was serving in the United States Marine Corps. They called Emmetsburg home until 1952 when they moved to Estherville to raise their family. Frances loved spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed playing cards, sewing, ice-skating, swimming, gardening and was an animal lover.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where she belonged to the Catholic Daughters. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Left to cherish Frances’ life are her husband, Clifford, of Estherville; her children, Kenneth and his wife, Jan, of Austin, Texas, Virginia Eide and her husband, Gary, of Estherville, Patrick and his wife, Deniese, of Estherville and Mary Fain and her husband, Barry, of Cedar Rapids; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Robert; her parents and two sisters, Mary Margaret Umthun and Betty Lou Wilcox.
