Paul Johnson, 64, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, April 22, 2011, at his home.
The service honoring Paul’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel in Fort Dodge. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge with military honors presented by V.F.W. Post No. 1856. The visitation was Monday from 4-8 p.m. p.m. at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.
Paul is survived by his children, Angela (Paul) Knudson and Duane (Michele) Carpentier, both of Fort Dodge; and Tina Alexander; three grandchildren, Jessica and Jeremy Knudson and Bryon Brohimer; and his siblings, George (Barb) Johnson, Marilyn Ostheimer and Robert (Kathleen) Johnson, all of Estherville; Ronald (Gloria) Johnson, Eagle Lake, Minn.; Alice Ann Johnson, Graettinger; and Ruth (Steve) Davis, Welcome, Minn. He was preceded in death by his wife Judy in 1997, a grandchild, a sister Frances Mason and his parents.
Paul Johnson, the son of Alfred and Alice (Tindall) Johnson, was born July 7, 1946, in Estherville. He graduated from Terril High School and Paul served his country in the military. On Aug. 24, 1968, Paul was united in marriage to Judy Kelp in Graettinger. They moved to Fort Dodge and Paul worked at Case Power Equipment until 1970 when he began working at the Pester Derby (Coastal Mart) Station on North 15th Street, until the station closed in 2001. Paul always appreciated his patrons who visited his station over the many years.
Paul enjoyed woodworking and especially his grandchildren.
