ESTHERVILLE – Funeral services for Naomi Sabby, 90, of Estherville will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Don Rehner officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be at Estherville Lutheran Cemetery.

She died Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.

Naomi Irene (Peterson) Sabby, the daughter of Anton and Ida (Sundsbo) Peterson, was born Aug. 1, 1920, in Jewell.

She received her education in Jewell schools and graduated from Jewell High School. She then attended and graduated from Waldorf College in Forest City.

On June 15, 1947, Naomi was united in marriage to Lloyd Sabby at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. The couple made their home in Estherville and Naomi was employed with Emmet County State Bank and Emmet County Treasurer’s Office. Lloyd died in 2007.

She was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church where she was active in her younger years. Naomi enjoyed playing games, baking, socializing with friends and most important was spending time with her family.

Grateful for having shared Naomi’s life are her children, Ronald Sabby and his wife, Wanda, of Wallingford, Dennis Sabby of Manly and Karen Hanson and her husband, Steve, of Estherville; grandchildren, Ryan Sabby of Des Moines, Evan Sabby and his fianc, Stephanie Cloud, and her children, Diavian, Sebastian and Kaley of Blaine, Minn., Nick Hanson and his wife, Katie, of Estherville, Jeremy Hanson and his wife, Kristin, of Nevada, Iowa, Elizabeth Hanson and her fianc, Jeremy Hare, of Las Vegas, Nev. and Briana Sabby of Manly; great-grandchildren, Isaac and Eli Hanson, Aubrey and Imrie Hanson and Zoey and Aviry Bush; siblings, Arling Peterson and his wife, Ruth, Robert Peterson and his wife, Pat, Sterling Peterson and his wife, Bette, Stanley Peterson and his wife, Marlys and Ina Sabby; sisters-in-law June Peterson and Bonnie Harris and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant sister, Beverly; brothers, Marvin (Madeline) Peterson and Leslie Peterson; sister-in-law, Alva (Jack) Young and brothers-in-law, Leland Sabby, Gerauld Sabby and Charlie Harris.
