ESTHERVILLE – Funeral services for Virgil Gardner, 75, of Estherville were held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at United Methodist Church in Estherville with Pastor Lynn Elrod officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville.
He died Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at his home in Estherville.
Virgil Gardner, the son of Raymond and Grace (McGregor) Gardner, was born May 10, 1938 in Bancroft.
He received his education in the Seneca schools, graduating from Seneca High School in 1957.
On June 5, 1958, Virgil was united in marriage to Marian Beaver at the Fenton Methodist Church. After their marriage the couple farmed near Seneca, west of Superior, and then northeast of Estherville. While living on the farms, Virgil did custom work – baling, corn shelling and Hi boy spraying. The couple moved into Estherville in 2000 and then Virgil delivered parts for NAPA Auto Parts.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Estherville. Virgil enjoyed snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, traveling, all types of racing and especially spending time with his friends and family.
Left to cherish Virgil’s memory is his wife, Marian; sons, Charles “Chuck” (Charla) Gardner and their children, Hanna, Joshua, Lucas and Gary all of Estherville; Kevin (Barbara) Gardner and their children, Jimmy, Amber, Laura and Chanelle all of San Diego; granddaughter, Amy Condon of Estherville; grandson, Tony (Leah) Condon of Wichita, Kan.; and son-in-law, Tony (Jody) Condon and their children, Drew and Josie, all of Estherville.
Preceding Virgil in death are his parents; his mother and father-in-law and his daughter, Vicki Condon on June 29, 1992.
