ARMSTRONG – Funeral services for Esther Haahr, 90, of Ringsted will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at United Methodist Church in Armstrong with Pastor Lyndon Roesler officiating. Visitation will be from 12:15 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at United Methodist Church in Armstrong. Interment will be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery in Armstrong.
She died on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.
Esther Maude (Olson) Haahr, the daughter of William and Edna (Larson) Olson, was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Jackson County, Minn.
She received her education in Fairmont, Minn. schools, graduating from Fairmont High School.
On Feb. 15, 1947, she was united in marriage to Curtis Haahr. The couple made their home in Ringsted until moving to Algona. Esther was employed with the United Methodist Church in Algona and the Iowa Crop and Livestock Reporting Service. They moved back to Ringsted in 1986.
Esther was a member of the United Methodist Church in Armstrong; Eastern Star of Algona and American Legion Auxiliary of Ringsted.
Left to cherish Esther’s memory are her husband, Curtis of Ringsted; children, Calvin Haahr of Ringsted; Verlyn Haahr and his wife, Leanna of Waterloo; Carol Lynn Murphy of Firesteel, S.D.; three grandchildren, Andy Haahr, Danny Haahr, Fallon Murphy and sister, Helen Van Brunt of Gaylord, Minn.
