ESTHERVILLE – Funeral services for Herman Rienhardt, Jr., 79, of Estherville will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Paul Wiegman officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel. Interment will be at East Side Memorial Cemetery in Estherville.

He died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Herman R. Rienhardt, the son of Herman and Myrtle (Sharar) Rienhardt Sr., was born Dec. 30, 1934, in Dolliver.

He received his education in the country and Dolliver schools.

Herman was baptized in the United Methodist Church in Huntington. He started farming with his brother, Stanley, in 1958. Herman worked for area farmers shelling corn, putting up hay, etc. He also worked for Haywoods and Hills Packing Plant. Herman moved with the family from the Dolliver farm to the Estherville farm in 1970.

Herman enjoyed looking at machinery, going to auctions, farming, spending time with family and listening to Johnny Cash.

Left to cherish Herman’s memory are his brothers and sisters, Robert Rienhardt and his wife, Bessie, of Dunnell, Minn.; Stanley Rienhardt; Jerry Rienhardt and his wife, Marilyn, all of Estherville; Lois Burg of Creston; Evelyn Rienhardt; Rose Hansen and her husband, Jerry, all of Estherville; Karen Beitz and her husband, Larry, of Fontanelle; and also by several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Herman in death were his parents; brothers, Eugene and Charles; sisters, Betty Rienhardt and Pearl Smith; brothers-in-law, Jim Smith Sr. and Ronald Burg; nephews, James Smith Jr. and Herman David Smith and niece, Barbara Smith. Online condolences may be sent to www.henryolsonfuneral.com
