Glenyce Joy Towell Aug. 28, 1944 – Oct. 7, 2016
Funeral services for Glenyce Joy Towell, 72, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Tim Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville. She died on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at her home in Estherville after a long battle with cancer.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Monday at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.
Glenyce Joy Towell the daughter of Glenn and Joyce (Fransdal) Olson, was born Aug. 28, 1944, in Estherville.
She received her education and graduated from Estherville High School. She then attended Estherville Junior College and Mankato State College and graduated from Mankato State College in 1965.
On Sept. 5, 1964, she was united in marriage to James Towell in Estherville. Glenyce was a sixth grade teacher in Mason City and Graettinger before moving to Estherville. While living in Estherville she was a Title I Teacher at the Estherville schools and also worked as a bank teller for a short time. For hobbies, Glenyce enjoyed traveling, baking, especially chocolate goodies, solving crossword puzzles, writing poetry and most important was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a lifelong member of Estherville Lutheran Church where she was baptized and confirmed. Her faith was a very important part of her life that she instilled in her children and others.
Left to cherish Glenyce’s memory are her husband, James of Estherville; son, Christopher (LuWanda) Towell of Estherville; daughter, Emily (Jason) Snyder of Iowa Falls; six grandchildren, Lyndsay and Ashton Towell, Taylor and Cody Linn, Jacob and Jonathan Snyder; sisters, Linda (Jim) DeVore of Spirit Lake, Lois (Ron) Graettinger of Graettinger, brother, John (Jill) Olson of South Bend, Ind., and many nieces and nephews.
She has been preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Garrett Towell; sister, Jeanne Anderson; brother-in-law, Carl Anderson; and niece, Amy Starnes.
