A Celebration of Life for Janet Sturm, 85, of Armstrong, will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Armstrong with Pastor Lyndon Roesler officiating. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Armstrong. She died on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, at her home near Armstrong
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday at the Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Armstrong.
Janet Lynn Sturm the daughter of Eugene and Hannah (Nielsen) Burg was born Aug. 31, 1931.
She received her education and graduated from Estherville High School. She then received her bachelor’s degree from Morningside College.
On June 26, 1954, Janet was united in marriage to Vern Sturm in Graettinger. The couple lived in the Dolliver and Armstrong area all of their married life. Janet was an elementary school teacher for 30 years at Lincoln Central School. For hobbies she enjoyed reading, quilting, gardening and scrapbooking. She really enjoyed being a cheerleader for her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s sporting events. Spending quality time with her family and friends was very important to her.
She was a member of Armstrong Methodist Church, UMW and Neighborhood Club. She also was a leader and member of many other organizations.
Left to cherish Janet’s memory are her children, Dick Sturm and his wife, Kathy, Sharon Sjoblom and her husband, Mike of Armstrong, Diane Sprague of Savage, Minn.; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Diana Glasser and her husband, Dallas of Boulder, Colo.; her nephew Matthew Glasser and his wife Tenisha.
She has been preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vern; her in-laws Elmer and Margaret Sturm; brother-in-law Robert Sturm; and son-in-law Jack Sprague.
