Goodwin E. Linn April 29, 1926 – Feb. 24, 2017
Funeral services for Goodwin E. Linn, 90, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Cole McCormick officiating. Interment will be at East Side Memorial Cemetery, Estherville. Goodwin passed away on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.
Goodwin Egalious Linn, the son of Albert and Ida (Dalen) Linn was born April 29, 1926, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Graettinger, and confirmed at Estherville Lutheran Church.
He received his education in the Estherville schools.
On Sept. 3, 1944, he was united in marriage to Annie Howard. In his younger years, Goodwin was employed at Rubbey Company in Ankeny, Iowa, also he did construction work, worked at Wood’s Brother’s Manufacturing in Des Moines, Iowa before returning to the area. After returning to the Estherville area he was employed at Shaver Manufacturing in Graettinger,, Fagre Construction Company in Estherville and V.C. Chemical Plant in Estherville also. He retired in 1984. Goodwin enjoyed building things, especially trailers. Annie died Jan. 4, 2013.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Estherville.
Left to cherish Goodwin’s memory are his children, five sons, Tom Linn and his wife, Irena of Junction, Texas; Kenneth Linn and his wife, Lynda of Ruston, La.; Duane Linn of Estherville; Randy Linn and his wife, Connie of Armstrong; Steven Linn and his wife, Alta of Superior, Iowa; one daughter, Kaylene Linn of Estherville; daughter-in-law, Shirley Linn of Mountain View, Mo.; 29 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren on the way; and two sisters-in-law, Beulah and Neomi.
Preceding Goodwin in death were his parents; wife, Annie; son, Gary; daughter, Gloria; granddaughter, Angela Holland; grandson, Kevin Helmich; grandson, Tallon Richard and six brothers, Jalmer, Dale, Leonard, Willie, Harry and Alfred.
