Mary Lou Klink Aug. 22, 1933 – April 22, 2017
Mary Lou (Bird) Klink, the daughter of Roy and Carol (Beed) Bird, was born Aug. 22, 1933, in Hampton, Iowa. Mary Lou passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, at the age of 83.
She received her education in the Mason City, Iowa Schools. Mary Lou then attended NIACC College in Mason City, receiving her teaching degree. She taught school in Maxwell, Iowa.
On Nov. 21, 1954, she was united in marriage to Don Klink in Hampton. The couple, moved to Cedar Falls, for Don to finish his education. In 1958, the couple moved to Lytton, Iowa, Mary Lou worked for a hatchery as a bookkeeper. In 1966, the couple moved to Armstrong. Mary Lou worked for Art’s Way Manufacturing as a bookkeeper. In 1975, Mary Lou started working for TG’s Industries, retiring in 1996.
She was an active member of the Armstrong Presbyterian Church, serving as treasurer and singing in the choir. Mary Lou enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, reading and crocheting. She was well known for her great sense of humor and her true love was spending time with her family.
Left to cherish Mary Lou’s memory is her faithful husband, Don of Armstrong; son, Wade Klink of Wichita, Kan.; daughter, Lorri Olson of Estherville; grandchidren, Matthew (Tonya) West; Marci (Tracey) McCallum; Alicia (Justin) Koppman; great-grandchildren, Samantha (Mitch) McGrauth, Landon, Logan, Emily, Ashley, Adrianna, Alexis, Jenna, Brianna, Nevaeh and Aleaya; great-grea grandchildren, Braxton and Owen; twin-sister, Norma Lee Bock; and sister, Joyce Koon.
Preceding Mary Lou in death are her parents; brothers, George and Gary Bird; sister, Elenor Jean Mount; son-in-law, Timothy West; two great-grandchildren, Rebecca Longman and Ryan McCallum.
Mary Lou has donated her body to science and private family services will be held at a later date.
