Evelyn Ardel Hansen was born on June 6, 1921 in Estherville, to John David and Nina (Riggs) Ingvall. She was raised on a farm in rural Estherville. She attended and graduated from Estherville High School.
On Feb. 20, 1941, Evelyn was united in marriage to William Hansen in Estherville. After Bill returned from the service, the couple farmed and raised their family in the Ringsted area. Evelyn and Bill enjoyed going to dances and playing cards with friends and relatives in their many years together. In 1978, the couple moved into Ringsted. Shortly after their move, Evelyn started working at Bonicksen’s Grocery Store where she enjoyed many years working with Mike and Lece.
Evelyn was an active member of United Lutheran Church in Ringsted; where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Ladies Aid, Circle, and Church Choir. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, visiting friends, and cheering on the Hawkeyes, Twins, and Vikings. However, her favorite enjoyment was spending precious time with her family.
Left to cherish Evelyn’s memory are her children, Judy Johnson and her husband, Terry of Armstrong; Kathy Johnson and her husband, Steve of Big Lake, Minn.; William Hansen of Ringsted; Steven Hansen of Estherville; Brian Hansen and his wife, Michele of Rosemount, Minn.; a daughter-in-law Diane Hansen of Thornton, Colo.; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren.
