Loretta Florence Harvey June 6, 1933 – Nov. 20, 2016
Memorial services for Loretta Florence Harvey of Denver, Colo., will be held 10:30 a.m., July 14, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Merlin Schrad officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
Loretta was born in Estherville to Viola and Jack Harvey on June 6, 1933. She died at Rose Hospital in Denver, Colo., Nov. 20, 2016. She was 83 years old.
Loretta grew up on a farm near Gruver. She graduated from Center Township High School in Gruver. After high school, she joined the Benedictine Convent of Sisters in Sioux City. She graduated from St. Vincent’s College of Nursing.
Later, Loretta received her Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree from the University of Wisconsin. She worked in various departments at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Sioux City.
Loretta left the convent in 1973 and moved to Denver, Colo. She loved the mountains and the sunshine. She was employed over the years at St. Joseph’s Hospital, University Hospital, Rose Hospital and she retired from Spaulding Rehab Hospital, all in Denver.
She is survived by sister Teresa Schiltz, Albert Lea, Minn.; nephews Alan (Karen) Harvey and family, Falls Church, Va.; Brian (Kay) Harvey and family Atascadero, Calif.; Douglas Schiltz, Albert Lea, Minn.; nieces Annette (John) Doppelhammer and family, Albert Lea, Minn.; Deborah (Pat) Eckert and family, Rochester, Minn.; and sister-in-law Maxine (Bill) Mahin of Escondido, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Viola and Jack Harvey, brother Joseph Harvey, brother-in-law Robert Schiltz and nephew Timothy Schiltz.
