Dean Lee McAdams
Dean Lee McAdams, of Yucca Valley, Calif., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 12, following a short battle with cancer. He turned 69 on Sept. 3. He is preceded in death by his brother, Scott Charles (1999), his mother, Dorothy Jean Anderson McAdams, (2008), and his father, Donald Lee McAdams, (2004). He is survived by his sister, JoEllen (Jodi) McAdams-Radzin and husband, Danny Radzin of Little Rock, Ark., and his brother, Steve McAdams and husband, Ara Dilanian, of Cathedral City, Calif.
Dean was born in California, but grew up in Estherville, Iowa. He attended Iowa Lakes Community College, University of Vienna and graduated from Harvard University and William Mitchell Law School. Dean practiced law in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area for over 20 years and was proactive in Human Rights, especially with
helping marginalized Chinese Hmong. In 1988, Dean served as Worshipful Master in Minnehaha Lodge #165 in Minneapolis, Minn. Most recently, he worked at the Spa Casino, Palm Springs, Calif., and considered the Spa his second home. Dean was active in ChildFund and supported three children in the Philippines and visited several times over the years.
Upon his diagnosis of Stage 4 Lung Cancer on Aug. 4, Dean recognized that his time was limited and kept a positive attitude about his illness. He passed away suddenly at his home. Dean will be remembered for his complexities, quirky sense of humor (a family trait), his intelligence, his love of privacy and sports, and for helping others. Dean will be cremated and there will be no memorial, as were his wishes. “Deano”, or “Mac”, was loved and will be greatly missed.
