Funeral services for Roger Solberg, 80, of Armstrong, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2019, at United Lutheran Church in Ringsted with Pastor Lauri Boysen officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong. He died on Friday, March 29, 2019 at his home in Armstrong.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, at United Lutheran Church in Ringsted.
Roger Wayne Solberg was born Jan. 15, 1939, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Edward and Marjorie (Johnson) Solberg.
He received his education and graduated from Ringsted High School in 1957. Following high school, he worked for Hodgmans Construction in Fairmont, Minn. In 1969, he started his career with Rohlin Construction. He served as vice president and retired from Rohlin Construction in 2005 after 37 years.
On Feb. 18, 1973, Roger married Pauline Paulson in Armstrong, Iowa. The couple made their home in Armstrong. Roger enjoyed Iowa State Cyclones Football and Basketball, Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins, raising cattle, tinkering in his garage and spending time with his grandchildren.
Roger was a member of United Lutheran Church in Ringsted.
Roger is survived by his wife, Pauline of Armstrong; sons Jeff (Janet) Solberg of Omaha, Neb.; Chad (Betsy) Solberg of Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren, Ben and Beka Solberg; Ethan and Bailey Yale; Lauren and Harper Solberg; uncle, Gerhard Vorland of Minneapolis and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Gary Solberg and Orlin (Barb) Solberg; and sister Sheryl Jacobsen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard (Betty) Paulson, Ernie (Mary) Paulson and Marian Paulson.
