Dewey F. Anderson
A memorial service for Dewey F. Anderson, 84, of Estherville, will held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, at Wallingford Lutheran Church in Wallingford, with Pastor Christine Lang officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Jack Creek-High Lake Cemetery, Wallingford. Military rites will be by American Legion Post 567 of Wallingford, and VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91, both of Estherville. He passed away on Aug. 11, 2019, at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville at the age of 84 years.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m., Tuesday at the church in Wallingford.
Duane “Dewey” F. Anderson was born on Sept. 14, 1934, in Graettinger, Iowa, to Jesse and Vera (Lundgren) Anderson.
Dewey graduated from high school before joining the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the Estherville area and became a truck driver for area coops and businesses. He was united in marriage to Dolores Nissen. In his younger years Dewey loved to ride bulls and go to Cheyenne for rodeos. Dolores passed away on Aug. 21, 1989.
He was a member of Wallingford Lutheran Church, the Elks Club, and the American Legion Post 576 of Wallingford. Dewey was the Fire Chief in Wallingford for many years. He enjoyed playing cards and trips to the casino.
Dewey is survived by his significant other of 23 years Dorothy Ross of Estherville; his siblings: Donna Wilhelm, Marvis (Don) Krough, Judy Lemmer, Kerm (Carol) Anderson, Maurice (Nathalie) Anderson, Linda Anderson, Bruce (Marilyn) Anderson, and Kim Anderson. He is also survived by his step-children Bonnie Beinz and Ronnie (Jewel) Carter.
Dewey is preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Ralph Wilhelm.
