Delbert Dwayne Johnson, son of John and Ruth (Webb) Johnson, was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Milford, Iowa.
He graduated from Oak Park High School in Nevada, Iowa.
On May 20, 1951, Delbert was united in marriage to Josephine Vera Kuepper in Hawkeye, Iowa. Delbert then joined the United States Army and was stationed in San Antonio, Texas for two years. The couple then made their home in the local area farming several farms. Delbert and Josephine farmed next to each other until their retirement in 1992. The couple so enjoyed being “snowbirds” and going south to Texas for the winter months for 43 years. In his leisure time Delbert loved playing golf (he had 4 holes in 1), card games, pool, dominos and ping pong. In 2017, Delbert moved to South Carolina to be closer to his daughter.
He was a lifelong member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church along with being a Farm Bureau member for many years.
Left to cherish Delbert’s memory are his daughter Jeannie Allen and her husband, Ronnie of Aiken, South Carolina; son Randy Johnson of Spencer; two step-grandchildren (Stacey and Ron); three step-great-grandchildren (Logan, Alexis, and Kaylee); and sister-in-law Lillian Johnson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Josephine, his brother Melvin Johnson.
