Daily News Editorial – Holidays more than hustle, bustle
Santa Claus is an amazing person. He’s not only magical–able to get all the way around the world on one night to deliver gifts to all the good boys and girls–but also in the joy he brings to every one of those children.
The Man in Red visited the Estherville Daily News on Saturday, Dec. 15, and greeted all the kids who came through the door.
The look on those kids’ faces when they saw him was priceless. Some were so excited their eyes became big and smiles from ear to ear graced their faces.
Others weren’t for sure about Santa at first but after a few minutes they got use to the idea of seeing the man who might make their Christmas dreams come true.
As the Christmas holiday draws closer and closer we want everyone to slow down a little–take a break from the frenzy of the season–and remember what the holidays were like when you were a child.
Remember the first time you saw Santa and the feeling it gave you. Were you shy or scared or were you ready to tell the Jolly Old Elf exactly what you wanted.
It’s in those moments of reminiscing the holidays become more than the stressful time of year many of us experience.
They become a time of joy and cheer–a time of reflection on the true meaning of Christmas–the birth of Jesus Christ.
