To the EDN:

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow shall stay the … no, wait that is the post office, not the Red Cross Blood Drive workers!

On Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, the Red Cross returned to Estherville to conduct another successful blood drive. The weather was not perfect, but the drivers made it through the blowing snow to arrive here safely and on time. Many of our donors did the same!

Donna Fredrickson was awarded her 2-gallon pin and Sally Steil received her 10-gallon pin. We had a record 20 first-time donors. First -time donors were: Kristine Eveleth, Xavier Marquez, Molly Struve, Kyle Struve, Julie Bates, Jason Mixon, Joshua Hilburn, Misty Wolff, Carmen Helmers, Kelsey White, Eric Anderson, John Semrad, Sandy Clayton, Sara Rademaker, Christina Theel, Tammy Brenner and Sarah Clarke. There were three additional first timers whose names I did not get. I hope they will accept my apology and return for the April 22 drive.

This Valentine’s Day drive was sponsored by Northwest Federal Savings Bank and was held at the Duhigg Center. The wonderful people at RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) gave us their usual wonderful help in greeting donors at the door and providing drinks and goodies after the donation. it would take a whole book to thank everyone involved with just one blood drive, so let me say to everyone: thank you, thank you, thank you!

Red Cross Coordinator for Estherville
