Estherville progress not just a word

By Staff | Feb 27, 2008

This Friday, Estherville Daily News readers will receive a bonus — an additional 20 pages in the annual Progress edition.

While some newspapers may yawningly refer to their progress editions as something that they “have to do again this year”, we can assure you that in this year’s Estherville Daily News Progress edition, there is indeed something to write home about.

Probably one of the biggest things this year is Excel! Estherville, the new community strategic plan unveiled at the Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce and Estherville Industrial Development Corporation banquet last month. The plan is the result of many months of work between community leaders and the Smart Solutions Group of West Des Moines, specialists in community development planning.

Excel! Estherville not only addresses development opportunities for new and existing industry. It also calls for unique community marketing and developing area recreation for the good of everyone.

It’s the best thing to hit Estherville in a long, long time.

This year’s Progress edition also addresses the many improvements in our community to businesses, health, education, religion, and social services — in brief, everything of significance in our community. We think you will be pleased with the result.

We also hope you are inspired to volunteer your time and talent toward bringing Excel! Estherville to reality. Just go on-line to estherville.org and click on the link for Excel! Estherville and download a copy of the comprehensive plan or obtain a copy at the Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce office at 620 First Ave. S.

At this stage, Excel! Estherville is a roadmap for the community’s future, a blueprint of possibilities, if you will, as to where our community could go.

The construction, though, has yet to begin. With your contribution, Excel! Estherville can help our community reach for a Golden Age the likes of which it has never seen.
