To the EDN:
On March 29, the Echo Plus bowling tournament was held at Imperial Lanes in Estherville. We would like to express our thanks to the Ambassadors, Kiwanis, Rotary and Black Knights Car Club for providing funds so that the event was once again cost free to the participants.
We would also like to thank all those who donated trophies so all bowlers were able to earn an award with special thanks going to the Chuck and Ethel Whitacre family, the Black Knights Car Club and Imperial Lanes.
KILR and Northstar Bank were instrumental in promoting the tournament, along with Norma Beaver helping with organization, and Barb Mack, Colleen Mein and Steve (Thurman) Johnson helping rebuild and clean trophies. Rylin Office Supply also supplied participation ribbons for all entrants. Obviously with such a large event and many names involved, it is impossible to thank everyone so to everyone your help is greatly appreciated.
Most of all a hearty thank you needs to be extended to the 41 Echo bowlers who entered this year’s tournament. If you ever have the opportunity to come watch them bowl, you need to do so. It is not like the average sporting event you witness. No one wishes ill fate upon their competition. It is truly all for one and one for all. It just may help remind you as it does us the true meaning of sportsmanship. Winning is not the only thing, it is the fun of competition, it’s about encouraging your foe to do well. If you win, that’s great. If you don’t, it is not the end of the world.
Thanks again to all.
