May is Beef Month, so this is a great time to start supporting your local cattle producers and at the same time treat yourself to a tasty meal.
If you haven’t brought out the grill yet this spring, you certainly haven’t been treating yourself very well. You deserve to fire up that grill and lay on a huge, juicy slab of steak, ribs, or burgers.
Beef goes well with anything — baked beans, cole slaw, salads, potatoes of all sorts. And don’t forget your favorite beverage, whether it’s lemonade, iced tea, or whatever you like.
Now is the time to plan the outdoor party, to clear off the patio, hang out that awning, and invite the friends and neighbors over for a beef cookout.
So you think beef is too expensive? Well who’s been pulling your leg!
Try a nice London broil. Serve with a tossed salad and baked potato and you have a great meal for under $3 each.
If you’re in the mood for hors d’oeurves, just get a package smokies. Warm them up in some barbecue sauce, and voila!
If you’re serving for a lot of folks, try the old burger on the grill.
Wondering what to cook for Sunday dinner? Try a classic rump roast. Just put one in the crock pot with potatoes, carrots, onions, and seasoning salt and your whole family will want in on it.
And who can forget the summer favorite for kids of all ages — hot dogs. They’re available for about the same price you paid 30 years ago!
When you consider how much everything else has gone up (like gas!) grilling at home is one of the best values that you can find. It’s a great way to have an enjoyable meal, spend time with your family, and entertain friends.
So have a beef cookout today.
