ARMSTRONG — The Armstrong-Ringsted softball team didn’t start the season quite like it wanted.

The Mustangs played their first game against Cornbelt Conference rival North Sentral Kossuth and came up on the short end of a 2-1 score.

A-R’s lone run came in the fifth inning when Michele Iris drove in Megan Sanders to tie the game at 1-1.

However, the Eagles scored in the top of the seventh to earn the win.

At the plate for the Mustangs, Sanders was 2-3 while Lisa Pelzer was 2-4.

“This was good for the first game of the season,” said A-R coach Hilary Menke. “We need o work on our hitting an bunting. Our defense played pretty solid.”
