Thank you voters in the Estherville Lincoln Central Community School District.

It is because of your willingness to invest in the future of our youth at the polls that the 2008-09 school year begins with a spanking new addition at Demoney Elementary and wonderful renovations at the high school.

While students in pre-kindergarten through second grade and ninth through 12 enjoy their new surroundings, the middle school group including grades three through eight, are anticipating changes a year from now.

That’s when grades 5-8 will move in to a brand new building of their own next to the high school. Construction crews are hard at work every day building this new school facility.

Grades three and four will maintain classes at their current location on North Sixth Street once the new middle school opens.

As with any major construction, there have been last-minute problems that have cropped up along with weather delays and possibly other unforeseen hold-ups.

So we applaud the patience of the school administration, faculty, custodians, maintenance and support staff who have endured. Because in the end we realize the worry, the sweat, the dust and the frayed nerves-it is all worth it.

There has not been any new school construction in this city for nearly 50 years. We are proud and pleased that as a community and school district, we have put our faith and trust in our students by providing a proper educational environment for their studies.

Remember they are the ones who hold the key to the future and deserve the very best today.
