There’s plenty of congratulations to go around in the sporting world this week.

The Estherville Lincoln Central football team may not be in the playoffs this season, but the Midgets went out on one of the most memorable game sever, driving down field with Alex Arends scoring the touchdown and Jordan Eggers adding the two-point conversion with no time on the clock in the 22-21 victory. Congratulations to the team for finishing the season strong with three straight victories.

Congratulations also goes to the Armstrong-Ringsted and Graettinger/Terril football teams as they play their substate games tonight. The Mustangs are home with Woodbine. The Knights travel to Remsen. Both games start at 7 p.m. We encourage all fans to support these local teams.

Let’s not forget to congratulate the three state-qualifying cross country teams. The Estherville Lincoln Central/Armstrong-Ringsted girls squad is making its third straight trip to the Class 3A state meet at the Lakeside Golf Club in Fort Dodge on Saturday. The Spirit Lake Park girls and boys cross country teams also qualified again this year and may have the talent that one of the Indian squads could bring home the Class 2A state title. Cross country is the one sport where the fans can run nearly as much as the spectators, so bring your running shoes.

Thanks to all the fall sports teams for giving us another season of memories.
