Letter to the Editor
To the EDN:
Even with the cooler weather, Skate Estherville again participated for the second year in all of the Sweet Corn Day activities, beginning with the parade, then sponsoring the dunk tank and holding a bake sale. We also held a skateboard exhibition, where the youth could show off their talent.
We had a very successful day, and we could not have done it alone. I would like to say “Thank you” to Roger Muller for letting us “ride in style” during the parade, to all the youth who walked in the parade, Kim Radig, and Dollar General for donating candy, and to Tom and Chris at the Computer Zone for all the website publicity and being a main supporter of our organization.
A special thanks to Kim Radig, Rose Hunter, Marian Origer and Becky Origer for all of their baking talents.
The dunk tank was a big hit again and I would really like to commend the volunteers who braved the cold water to make this as successful as it was-Mike Peterson, Mike Martens, Mark “Daisy” Reardon (our three returning volunteers), John Wittneben, Vickie Jurrens, Dr. Greg Williams and Tammy Hamerlinck (our first-timers). Without you, it would have never been possible.
Thank you to Dan and Gary for all of their hard work and dedication along with all of the youth who helped set up equipment and take it back down and to all the little helpers throughout the day and to anyone else who I may have accidentally missed. Your continued support, along with the hard work and belief that we will accomplish our goal and dream of having a skate park in Estherville is an awesome feeling!
