Letter to the editor
The board of directors of the meals on wheels program in Estherville wants to take this opportunity to show our appreciation to all of the dedicated people who deliver these meals. They are delivered to people who are unable to prepare a hot, nutritious meal for themselves seven days a week.
This program has been in effect since 1970. From Sept. 1, 2008 through Aug. 31, 6,331 meals were delivered by these volunteers. Good Samaritan Society prepares the week day meals and Avera Holy Family Health Services prepares and delivers the weekend meals.
The volunteers represent the following churches and VFW Auxiliary: Crossroads, Estherville Lutheran, First Christian, First Presbyterian, Grandview Baptist, Immanuel Lutheran, Redeemer Lutheran, Trinity Lutheran, St. Patricks and United Methodist.
The board of directors include; Dorothy Neppl, president; Mary Lown, vice president; Velma White, secretary; Donna Roth, treasurer; Pat Erickson, Paulette Graff, Susan Jacobsen, Ellen Johnson, Delores Kesler, Carol Shipley and Linda Wiegman.
This year, to really show our appreciation, we are sponsoring a COME & GO COFFEE on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 9:30 – 10:30 at Duhigg Center which is located on the corner of Ninth Street and Central Avenue. We are sending personal invitations to all of the volunteers. If someone was missed, please accept this as your invitation. We are looking forward to seeing you at the coffee.
