To the EDN:

The Emmet County Food Pantry, with nearly bare shelves, got a chance to fill some of them on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, with the collection of nearly 3,000 pounds of non-perishable items. Bags are still coming in.

Three entities, Boy Scout Troop 31, Cub Scout Pack 21 and multiple clubs from Emmet County 4-H went door to door, collecting bags of canned goods, non-perishable food items, paper products and personal hygiene products.

To Estherville Daily News, KILR Radio for advertising, Fareway for donation of sacks, leaders of the three respective organizations, the young people who collected the items and the parents who drove these kids around, Thank you!

Scouting for Food has been in Estherville since 1987 and every year the kids come with as much enthusiasm as they did 21 years ago. Thank you Estherville.
