Some fans still may be trying to get to the shortened baseball and softball seasons.

For many area teams, the season could end this week or it could be just the beginning of an incredible run to state tournament play.

Class 1A Regional softball games begin today with Armstrong-Ringsted traveling to Algona to take on Bishop Garrigan and Graettinger-Terril on the road at Lake Park.

Estherville Lincoln Central, which was rated as high as No. 11 this season, travels to Hartley on Thursday for a Class 2A Regional game. Meanwhile Spirit Lake is home with Sibley-Ocheyedan.

Baseball playoffs started even sooner with Armstrong-Ringsted starting out against North Sentral Kossuth yesterday (Tuesday).

Meanwhile, Graettinger-Terril had a first-round bye and plays the winner of Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn and Clay Central-Everly in Everly on Thursday.

Estherville Lincoln Central split its regular season meetings with rival Spirit Lake and the two teams open play Saturday evening in Estherville.

So if you want to see your favorite teams this season, time is running short.
