The day of an Emmet County Fair Judge is a long, but rewarding one.

They’re the ones who have the difficult task of grading the hard work of youth fairly and most do it with a helpful attitude.

Even if their area of expertise is just one category, a judge can see wide variety of entries.

Part of their job is to advise the exhibitor on the strengths and weaknesses of their project before awarding a blue or red ribbon. (An exhibitor has to have a poor effort before a white ribbon will be awarded.)

Hopefully the judge’s advice will help the participant come up with a better project next year.

Regardless, the judges who review the exhibits have given of their time and we applaud them for all they do for our youth.
