Estherville Elks thanks community

By Staff | Jan 6, 2016

The Estherville Elks Lodge #528 would like to thank the community for the support we received while collecting deer hides for our first year participating in the Elks Veterans Leather Program. By hunters donating deer hides, the Elks members then prepare them to be sent on to be tanned. After they are tanned they are sent on to Veterans who are in rehab programs in VA hospitals and nursing homes. They are able to make items such as gloves and slippers with the leather. These items are given back to Veterans in need.

We especially want to thank Tony Hanson and Pro Coop for donating the salt for the preparation of the hides, Andy Brown for the use of his heated shed to do the work, and most importantly all the hunters that donated the hides.

We look forward to this program growing next year!
