CEDAR RAPIDS – The Iowa Lakes Softball Team split a pair of games with No. 2 Kirkwood Community College on Sunday.

The Eagles took game one 9-1.

In game two, the Lakers won 6-4.

At the plate, Kelsey Ennenga led the Lakers, going 3-for-4 while Michelle Thille was 2-for-3.

Taylor Mackey improved her pitching record to 9-2.

“We really ended to get back the basics of Laker softball-hustle, an aggressive attitude and keeping it simple; catch the ball, throw the ball and get a timely hit,” said Iowa Lakes coach Shane Bouman. “Taylor also made a huge statement by bouncing back (in game two) after a very average outing in game one.”

Iowa Lakes hosts North Iowa Area Community College in its home opener on Thursday.
