Thumbs up to Emmet County Wellness Coalition members for promoting health and wellness in the county. Coalition members met Wednesday at Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative which itself deserves thanks for providing a room for Coalition meetings. A special thanks should go to the Regional Wellness Center and Avera Holy Family Hospital for again sponsoring the Lifestyle Challenge this year.
Thumbs up to the chili chefs who are competing in the chili cookoff 1-3 p.m. today at the Estherville VFW. Good chili making is an art, and these folks are all Rembrandts and Picassos, in our book.

Thumbs up to the Friends of Fort Defiance for continuing to plan trails in the park. The next Friends meeting will be 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Sanborn Room at the Estherville Public Library. Thumbs up to Mother Nature for finally giving a respite from the cold weather we’ve been having over the past week. There were some trying days, when it was so cold there were school cancellations. However, it appears we’re getting back to normal – if not above normal – for this time of year.
