Red Cross Blood Drive another success
The Red Cross Blood Drive on May 6 was a great success, collecting 71 units of life saving blood.
As this was my last blood drive as coordinator here in Estherville, I would like to thank and acknowledge some folks: the RSVP volunteers for their hundreds of hours over the years; the churches and businesses that sponsored the drives and especially the donors. We couldn’t have been as successful as we were without all of you.
I would like to acknowledge some very devoted donors who have collectively given over 1000 units, thus saving about 3200 lives. They are: Steve Bandow, 7 gal; Norma Beaver, 9 gal; Brian Bendixen, 10 gal; Larry Bergeson, 6 gal; Randy Cody, 14 gal; Carol Cody, 11 gal; Garald Guge, 10 gal; Cheryl Houseman, 7 gal; Marcia Klingbeil, 9 gal; Tina McCorkel, 7 gal; Kenneth Munson, 8 gal; Terry Reekers, 8 gal; LaVonne Ruschy, 8 gal; Sally Steil, 14 gal and Tim Swalve, 9 gal.
I am moving out of the area but have found two generous ladies who are willing to take my place, Carol Hum and Joan Nims. I hope you will continue to support Carol and Joan as they call upon you to donate or sponsor at a blood drive.
In my 30-plus years as a Red Cross volunteer, I have never been as successful with blood drives as I have been here in Estherville. I will miss all of you and know you will continue to be as generous as you have been in the past. It has been an honor to be a part of this wonderful and giving community. Thank you all.
