Christmas project a success again
To the residents
of Emmet County:
Emmet County did it again!!!
Nearly 891 people will be enjoying Christmas again this year due to the generosity of individuals, merchants and organizations in the area who provided gifts or monetary contributions. What makes this outstanding is that nearly 400 of those receiving were children. This project would not be possible without the sponsorship of the Emmet County Ministerial Association, and the phenomenal help provided by volunteers from all of the churches. This is not a three day project, as many of the volunteers work all year long. This includes the ladies that volunteer to do the shopping for the project as well as those taking responsibility in organizing the event.
The availability of the Duhigg Center, the facility where the project takes place each year, is an additional blessing and St. Patrick’s Parish should be commended for providing the facility. The gym provides enough space for the gift items, plentiful parking and easy access to the building is a great asset.
This year we were especially pleased to have seven new volunteers, including two school-age students-my granddaughter Jalen Heintz from Polk City, Iowa, and Elizabeth Lausen, daughter of Jay and Kohlene Lausen of Estherville.
The organizers of the project extend their thanks to all who provided their time, talent and treasures.
God Bless All of You
